Did someone tryed to run two versions of pa (english and french) under two
different folders but with the same database?
Does someone have help on this.
The reason if that i would like to provide an English and a french version for
my users.

gfbaggio,
running two instalations of PA (different folders) from one database
would *almost* work. There's only one reason why not: uploaded media
files! They are stored in the web/files/ folders and both PA versions
would search for them in *their* installation path!
PA pre7's internationibalisation code *should* already be able to habde
runtime switching of the UI language though. Basically you'd set the
lang variable dynamically (and no longer in the config files), based on
a request parameter ($:COOKIE['pa_language'] or so). I know I've done
similar with a client project with a PA codebase that was cloder to pre6
or earlier.
Also please have a look at the PA installation
http://www.pre8staging.dev.vm.broadbandmechanics.com/home
PA pre8 will have the option to switch langauges at runtime (see the
flags upper left on all pages) built-in

Where can i get the pre8 code?
BTW, I have installed the pre7 version, how can I setup the modules ?
Just like the Poll & Celebrity module, how can I add such module in my pre7
version?
Thanks a lot.

The Poll module is special in that sense that it will only appear if you
have created a Poll.
So there are two steps:
Make sure it is enabled for the homepage
http://<yoursever>/network_customize_ui.php?type=module
And then go to
http://<yourserver>/poll.php
To create/select a poll to be run on the homepage
A similar approach applied to Celebrity but to my knowedge this feature
was never really bug free and might not work as expected. It has been
removed from the upcoming pre8 codebase, as it will be replaced by a
more general featureset.
Hope this helps,
-Martin

Thanks for your reply, Martin.
What confused me is , I can not find where to config (enable) the poll
module.
In my installed pre7, in the homenetwork configuration page
(http://<yoursever>/network_customize_ui.php?type=module
you mentioned, there is no Poll module in homepage's module list, also not
found in other pages's module list.
Is it should be enabled in some configuration file like local_config.php
before ?
thanks.

Jerry,
I may be a bit out of the details for pre7 as all my work involves pre8
based systems... but try this:
OPen web/includes/constants.php
and find the settings for PAGE_HOMEPAGE
You'll see a 'data' section with three entries (left, middle, right)
with all the module names for each column.
in either left or right you *should* have 'PollModule'... if not, you
can add it here.
After doing that, you'll need to run the 'web/update/run_scripts.php'
and possibly also hit the "Rstore defaults" buttons on the Module
configuration page for the homepage...
I hope that get's you there...

Martin,
I tried it as you told, it's no problem the run_scripts.php script and I
can see the PollModule at the configuration page, but after I hit the
"Restore defaults" button, the Error report seems there is no PollModule
files in my "web/BetaBlockModules/" directory,
did the "web/update/run_scripts.php" not made update reday for running?
BTW , if the pre8 will release out in the next week, i can waiting -;)
Thanks a lot

My apologies to you and the rest of our developer community.
the good news is that we're hard at work on pre8 and there are LOADS of
improvements, bug fixes, optimizations, etc.
bad news is that we had a major hard drive crash and lost fo work this
weekend. We're back up and running now.
Stay tuned for release details.

hi, Marc
Any news for pre8 ?
BTW, can you kindly give me a way to download & trial for the new pre8
before it's released ?
I am very interesting in the new version, maybe I can give some help on it.
